We are pleased to be providing the new home/visitor grandstands and press box at Margaretta High School in Castalia, OH after a tornado and high winds caused significant damage to their football stadium.
The following is from the local weather center:
Updated 6 p.m., Nov. 5, 2017:
CASTALIA — Sunday's storm caused significant damage across the area, including tearing the roof off Margaretta High School's football press box.
The storm damaged poles, brought down wires, and led to the closure of portions of Ohio 101, Ransom Road and Mason Road. The Tiffin Avenue underpass was also part of Sunday's closures due to rising water.
"Most of the damage is in and around the village of Castalia and Margaretta Township," Erie County Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said.
Margaretta High School received the brunt of the storm where strong winds blew down a portion of the high school's football press box.
"The middle section the visitor bleachers blew off their foundations and into the middle of the football field," Margaretta superintendent Dennis Mock said.
Bleachers scrapped across Margaretta's new track, which was placed just this year, severely damaging it.
"I feel sorry for the boosters because they put a lot of time and effort into the track this year and its unfortunately damaged," Mock said.
